Motorola MOTOACTV

Motorola showed off the MOTOACTV fitness watch at CES. This is the world’s first GPS fitness tracker and smart music player.

Wear MOTOACTV on your wrist, or connect to a bike. It will keep track of the calories, steps, and more. If you have a Bluetooth heart rate monitor, connect it to the MOTOACTV, and it will track your results.

You can download your information to the computer and put up on the Motorola MOTOACTV website. Share with your friends, and have little healthy competitions.

The built-in MP3 player also can determine which songs affect your exercise. The performance playlist will help you power through. You can also set a “Fit song”, which could help you when you need that extra boost.

MOTOACTV is available in 8 GB ($249) and 16 GB ($299) models.

BlueTooth Watch Interfaces With Smart Phones

Casio BlueTooth Watch

At the Casio booth was a technology demonstration of low power BlueTooth embedded in a Casio watch that allows it to interface to Smart Phone devices.

Normally BlueTooth products need a rechargeable battery but Casio’s Low Energy BlueTooth can last up to 2 years before the battery needs replacing.

The Smart Phone demonstration shows how the watch can communicate over BlueTooth with the Smart Phone for providing feedback about phone calls, email, text messages received and other features that can be profiled in the watch.

Griffin Stompbox and the “slap”

The Griffin Stompbox is a must for guitar players, whether you are a professional or amateur.

I wish I could play the guitar and use the cool features in this device.  I had to look on in awe as I watched the people coming and going playing with the stompbox at CES.

The stompbox allows you to use your iPad to change guitar effects. Griffin uses the iPad app “iShred Live” with its stompbox.  This device is available soon for $99.99.

I also got to see the “Slap” for the first time. Its an wrist band, which makes a wrist-watch of your iPod nano. The “slap” is available now on Griffin’s website.
