Livestream introduced a new product during CES. The product is a part of their broadcast unit family. It will allow someone to broadcast live without any wired or wireless connection. It uses Verizon’s 4G LTE connection to do the streaming instead.

All you need is a camera, a HDMI cable and the broadcast unit. The broadcast unit will have a built-in lithium battery which will provide up to three hours of live streaming per charge. Prior to CES getting into full swing the Livestream team was getting a great connection. As with any network connection, speeds may vary depending on how congested the network is and the strength of the signal.

At this point there is no pricing available but they hope to have the units available early Q2. There will also probably be a fee from Verizon but at this point the fee is unknown. If you do a lot of live streaming in the field and have a Verizon contract then this is definitely something you will want to look into.

The device comes in the form of a case and much of what it does is enhance sound level and quality — something Apple seems to struggle with. Although, to be fair, many other mobile devices do as well.

Typically stylish and yellow-lensed, Todd occasionally wears a pair of Gunnars while doing the GNC show.

Joe Croft dropped in to show off the latest specs and Gunnar currently has a four-way line-up with Advanced Computer, Advanced Gaming, Premium 3D and Advanced Outdoor eyewear. As you might guess, three out of the four are primarily for indoor use only.

The Advanced Computer eyewear is for those people who use computer screens all day and the glasses help with the typical symptoms of prolonged computer use, such as a lowering in the blink rate leading to dry eyes, tired eye muscles from short range focussing and poor light quality from fluorescent lights. The technology in Gunnar glasses addresses each of those issues to make the eyes more comfortable while using a computer screen.

The new Spring 2012 collection is now out at Gunnars. Prices from $80 – $300 for standard lenses. Budget up to $700 for custom prescription lenses from Zeiss.

That’s why they have decided to produce what is the worlds first conversion box for making 2D content available as 3D, that also has upscaling features and an HDMI switch built-in.

This new HDMI switch has 4 ports and it does a lot more than simple conversion. This as-yet-unnamed IOGear box allows the user to make adjustments to get the 3D picture looking right for their individual tastes. Since it has four HDMI inputs you can also up-convert your 2D DVD’s as well. It also upscales resolution types by turning 480 into 720 and 720 into 1080, which then converts to 3D, making all of your existing content available in 3D. The box is expected to be available in March for an MSRP of $199. That’s about double a basic 4 port HDMI switch, but it contains functionality which can’t be had all in one box until now, and it’s all in one very small box. You can check it out in the video below. Now all it needs is a name.

<itunes:summary>According to IOGear about 70% of the people currently looking to buy new TV's are leaning towards 3D, but are scared off by the lack of available programming. That's why they have decided to produce what is the worlds first conversion box for making 2D content available as 3D, that also has upscaling features and an HDMI switch built-in.

This new HDMI switch has 4 ports and it does a lot more than simple conversion. This as-yet-unnamed IOGear box allows the user to make adjustments to get the 3D picture looking right for their individual tastes. Since it has four HDMI inputs you can also up-convert your 2D DVD's as well. It also upscales resolution types by turning 480 into 720 and 720 into 1080, which then converts to 3D, making all of your existing content available in 3D. The box is expected to be available in March for an MSRP of $199. That's about double a basic 4 port HDMI switch, but it contains functionality which can't be had all in one box until now, and it's all in one very small box. You can check it out in the video below. Now all it needs is a name.

In the last couple of years more and more people are sharing their digital media over the Internet with friends and family. Unfortunately because of the way things are currently setup they often have to compromise on quality. BitTorrent is attempting to solve this problem. They have a new software application called Share which they introduced at CES 2012. This program will allow people to share large media files with family and friends. There is no limit on file size, number of files or recipients. Each person will have to be authenticated either by email or connecting on Facebook. They will also have to run Share in the background. Share is less the 1 mg in size and takes up very little resources. The media file will be uploaded to each recipient who along with the cloud application will act as seeders. Once you reach a critical mass the cloud application will drop off. Share is currently still in Alpha and being tested.

BitTorrent is also working on a live video streaming protocol which will allow people to share live streaming video without a hosting service. This is also currently in Alpha, you can participate in the test every Friday night at BitTorrent Live. BitTorrent also announced 4 partnerships with various companies in Europe and Asia, that would embed the Bittorent protocol directly in their devices.

We’ve interviewed Vamshi Sriperumbudur last year and learned about Dyyno. This year they came back to show us what has changed and what they offer video broadcasters.

Dyyno does video streaming;they offer tools from video creation through delivery and promotion.

We learn about “dUb”, Dyyno Universal Broadcaster, which allows the broadcaster to broadcast nearly anything. Basically, if you can see it on your computer screen, then you can broadcast it, whether it’s a full-screen game or an application such as Powerpoint.

To make this more useful to video broadcasters, dUb has been integrated with theGeniatech range of video capture devices; EZ Grabber, EZ Grabber 2.0 and HD Cap Express. Over a million of these have been sold which makes them some of the more widely used video capture devices.

The basic package of EZ Grabber and dUb costs just $30 to get started with 50 hours per month and upgrade packages for more hours are available.

The competition to win an EZ Grabber in this video is already finished, we gave the units away during the live coverage.

We saw such products as the Mini XA10, a small but powerful video camera that will be good for on-the-go shooting at remote locations. There’s the XF100, a slightly larger, 50 MB/Sec camera that should hit the market at somewhere around a $3000 price point. But the most exciting new addition to the Canon line is the Canon XF105, which will retail for about $4300 and feature SDI out and storage space for two compact flash cards that will be capable of duel-recording. That’s a bargain price for this powerful of a device.

The new products that Canon unveiled on the video side should all be on the market in the near future, if they aren’t already. The prices we listed are estimated MSRP, but shop around and you may do even better. You can get a close-up look at all three of these new cameras in the video below.

The cool thing about Displaylink with USB 3.0 is that you can drive a bus powered monitor with no power cord. So essentially you have a bus powered monitor, that is connected only by a USB 3.0 cable to a computer that has a USB 3.0 bus and no other cable. Displaylink has been driving bus powered monitors for a long time but generally not one that supports HD.

Displaylink technology can now be found on a number of monitors in the marketplace. You should always look for the displaylink logo on the packaging or visit the displaylink website for links to a variety of the vendors that support the technology. While USB 3.0 has not had wide deployment yet this is an indication of what will be available in coming months as more computer manufactures get on the USB 3.0 bus.
