These adapters allow the camera to connect wirelessly to a smart phone. It’s a small adapter that can be use with the new DSLR and Nikon 1 models. It cannot be used with older cameras because they do not have the correct circuitry. Not only does this adapter allow you to send the pictures from your camera to the phone wirelessly, it also allows you to trigger the camera directly from the phone. For example let’s say you want to take a picture of a group and you want to be in the picture; you can set your camera up, then place yourself in the group, then arrange the group the way you want using what you see in the phone as a guide, knowing that what you see in the phone is what the camera seeing, you can then trigger your shot using the phone.

Nikon’s newest camera is a D5200. It has a 24.1 megapixel sensor. You can take high-speed continuous shots up to five frames per second it has a high ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 6400. This allows you to get good pictures even in a low light situation. The D5200 Includes a stereo microphone and the ability to film in full HD. The LCD screen on the back flips out making the camera easier to use. The D5200 is $895 with full kit and $795 for just the body. The base price for the Nikon 1 S1 is $499 and for the J3 it is $599. You can find more about these cameras in the adapter at the Nikon website.

It’s a new type of point-and-shoot camera that allows you to act like a professional.

Ben Thomas talks about the sensor size of 1.5 inches. It’s much larger (9x) than other Point and shoot. This gives you amazing low light performance and “Shallow depth of field”. It’s the ability to blur out the background and focus on the subject.

The G1X takes SD cards. The Lithium battery takes about 250 shots. The G1X will be available at the end of February for $799.

Being avid Canon fans and users ourselves at F5 Live, you could imagine our excitement to see what cool camcorders were in store for us this year at CES. In speaking with Ben Thomas at Canon, we learned that six new Vixia video cameras have made their way to market, in both the M series and R series.

The M series, the higher end of the two model lines, features built-in WiFi, severl new menu enhancements, a new image stabilizer called Intelligent IS and a 20% increased low-light performance than that of its predecessor. New this year to Canon is their driven focus on the ability to share the content you create. Before, it was extremely easy to produce content but getting it to your friends and family could sometimes be a chore. With Canon now moving to native mp4 support on top of its AVCHD file format, users can now get those files onto the web fast. Helping that cause is their new app called Movie Uploader, which is currently available on the computer and Apple devices. By using the app (or plugging it straight into the computer and hopping onto Canon’s site), you can share and upload any video you’d like to Facebook, YouTube or as an attachment in no time.

For the R series, these entry level models now pack a punch as they too include built-in WiFi. However, here’s where consumers looking for a new camera need to pull the trigger. These little guys have a 32x optical zoom and still have the Intelligent IS so you can zoom to your heart’s content. Oh, and it also has a mic jack, headphone jack and is DLNA capable. Add that to a pricepoint of $349-$549 and you have a Canon camera that become your best friend forever.

<itunes:summary>Being avid Canon fans and users ourselves at F5 Live, you could imagine our excitement to see what cool camcorders were in store for us this year at CES.

By using the app (or plugging it straight into the computer and hopping onto Canon's site), you can share and upload any video you'd like to Facebook, YouTube or as an attachment in no time.

For the R series, these entry level models now pack a punch as they too include built-in WiFi. However, here's where consumers looking for a new camera need to pull the trigger. These little guys have a 32x optical zoom and still have the Intelligent IS so you can zoom to your heart's content. Oh, and it also has a mic jack, headphone jack and is DLNA capable. Add that to a pricepoint of $349-$549 and you have a Canon camera that become your best friend forever.

Interview by Nicholas DiMeo of F5 Live for the TechPodcast Network.

Todd talks with Al Dean from Sony about the SLT A77V and A65 Cameras and their incredible OLED Viewfinder.

The A65 and A77 cameras use a translucent mirror which means that the mirror does not have to move out of the way to make a shot. The A65 will shoot 10 frames per second (double what normal mirror viewfinder cameras can do) and the A77 can shoot 12 frames per second. Also, when shooting video, the mirror stays in place so the viewfinder works unlike most other DSLR type cameras.

The A65 goes for $1000 with lens kit and the A77 goes for $1300 for the body only and $1999 with the lens kit. They are available in limited quantities now with general availability later this year.

We saw such products as the Mini XA10, a small but powerful video camera that will be good for on-the-go shooting at remote locations. There’s the XF100, a slightly larger, 50 MB/Sec camera that should hit the market at somewhere around a $3000 price point. But the most exciting new addition to the Canon line is the Canon XF105, which will retail for about $4300 and feature SDI out and storage space for two compact flash cards that will be capable of duel-recording. That’s a bargain price for this powerful of a device.

The new products that Canon unveiled on the video side should all be on the market in the near future, if they aren’t already. The prices we listed are estimated MSRP, but shop around and you may do even better. You can get a close-up look at all three of these new cameras in the video below.
